Benjamin Newman reimagines vintage industrial parts by placing them in dynamic sculptural settings. Most of his pieces began their journey on the open road where early engineers demonstrated their own artistic vision. Fragments of their work are given the chance to live again in these sculptures, albeit in a newly cast order.
Now residing in Northern California, Benjamin learned his craft while foraging for parts in the historic cities of Boston, Providence, and New York. At the time, searching junkyards had more to do with maintaining mobility than artistic expression. Now, he seeks to highlight the beauty of nature by subjecting mans creation to the forms which preceded us.
