Cynthia X. Hua produces installations that solicit mass user participation via the web. She explores how contributions from diverse groups of people can be clustered, collaged or computed together into works of the collective imagination. Hua has displayed work in Los Angeles, Berlin and San Francisco. She is currently an Incubator Member at the Gray Area Foundation for the Arts. She has previously been awarded fellowships from the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Signal Culture, The LAB as well as the Nieman Foundation at Harvard. Her work has been featured on VentureBeat and CCTV, and she has presented about computer-based art at outlets such as Theorizing the Web, Creative Tech Week and NYU. Hua received her B.A. at Yale, focusing on Internet media.
