Duri Long is a third year Human Centered Computing Ph.D. Student at Georgia Tech. She has a background in computer science and performance art. Her work has involved investigations into embodied movement AI and installation design/evaluation.
Duri's current research interests lie at the intersection of creativity and computation. She builds and studies interactive technological systems that bring people joy and help them create together.
Duri previously studied at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she received a BS in Computer Science with a second major in Dramatic Art. At UNC-CH, her research explored performance art for social change and computer-supported cooperative learning. Duri's previous professional experience includes working as a software developer, a performance artist, and a producer.
Duri is one of the lead artists for the LuminAI project. She is a member of the Adaptive Digital Media (ADAM) Lab at Georgia Tech. The ADAM Lab explores questions that center on cognition, creativity, and computation through the study of creative human endeavors and by building public-facing digital media artifacts representing their findings. Applications of the ADAM Lab's findings range from AI-based digital performance to interactive narrative experiences to educational media. Their work has been shown internationally at galleries, museums, and conferences, and collectively the ADAM lab members have authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles related to cognition, creativity, computation, music technology, and installation design.
