"Every act of creation is first an act of destruction." - Pablo Picasso
This paradox drives designer Eric Hanson to explore the relationship between technology and living things. He appreciates learning about the societal impacts of technology, including topics such as automation of human labor, sustainability, and the balance between creating something new with the seemingly necessary destruction that our creations bring.
He has explored these philosophical intersections professionally - designing literal human-machine interfaces such as seating and controls at machinery companies Crown Equipment and Caterpillar, and most recently software experiences at Salesforce and Uber. Eric holds both Industrial Design and Philosophy degrees from Purdue University and an M.B.A. from Valparaiso University.
