Grant Patterson

Grant Patterson creates interactive computer-mediated art inspired by scientific principles. He graduated from Stanford University with a BS in Computer Science and has over a decade of hardware/software industry experience in circuit design, embedded systems programming, Linux sysadmin, web user interfaces, and mobile apps with internet-of-things connectivity. Grant left the corporate world in 2018 to make art full-time.

Grant believes we should use the fruits of society's technological progress to produce beautiful, magical things. With all the mind-blowing technology out there, too much of it is put towards the service of simply making more money. Instead, we can use our godlike powers to create things of transcendent beauty and splendor—things that shake observers to their core, challenging their beliefs and assumptions.

Grant is fascinated by light and its potential for expression. This drives him to create art pieces large and small, from LED wearables to warehouse-scale installations. He engages viewers to control and participate in the art. His work appears in art festivals, corporate events, permanent installations, and private collections. His latest pieces harness the precision and power of laser fabrication technology.
