Järmark - a collaborative work by Steina and Woody Vasulka, and Rob Shaw
Steina and Woody Vasulka are early pioneers of video art, and have been producing work since the early 1960s. The couple met in the early 1960s and moved to New York City in 1965, where they began showing video art at the Whitney Museum and founded The Kitchen in 1971. Recognition for the Vasulkas work range from dual Guggenheim Fellowships in the 1970's to a Fullbright Fellowship in 2015.
Rob Shaw is one of the pioneers of chaos theory. His work at University of California, Santa Cruz on the ability of chaotic systems to spontaneously generate complex behavior was the subject of his landmark PhD thesis, and led to a MacArthur Fellowship for his contribution to the field.
Jarmark will be presented as an interactive installation during our ART+TECH Festival on October 23rd and 24th, 2015.
