Julia Shu (Neometa) is a multimedia artist and new media creator from Ukraine, working in the field of generative graphics, animation, audiovisual media performances, AR & VR as well as sculpture and collage. Julia has created an art movement called Neometa, or neometamodernism, which derives from the binary numeral system, the synergy of humaneness and technogenic. It’s the way of working with reality divided between zero and one: harmony & chaos, present & future, digital & analogue, man & machine. Neometa uses transgressive art techniques to achieve the harmonious coexistence of these two categories. She also combines and reconciles all art practices to invite others to participate in discussion on our existence in a constantly changing entourage. In a world where awaiting for technological singularity became a new Doomsday Clock, Neometa invites us to look at machines as the cruel instrument to explore ourselves, or sometimes even as cocreators that became the part of our culture.
