Botanic Quartet is a live performance of plants playing in a synchronized quartet with one another, and Scott Kildall improvising with a new DIY "SnipSynth" that he has developed on an ESP32 chip.
For "Botanic Quartet," each plant is hooked up to a sensor -- in most cases these are electrodes that read their rapidly-changing electrochemical activity. The data from this sensor gets processed by an embedded chip -- an ESP32 that plays the synthesized effects.
For his performance, Scott is using records of San Francisco during SIP and will make the performance waiver on notes of frenzy as we bring 2020 to a close.
