Sonic Runway is a light-art installation that visualizes the speed of sound created by a team of artists, including lead artist Rob Jensen, co-lead Warren Trezevant, and design by Stockhausen.
Sonic Runway was installed at City Hall from November 2017 to March 2018 as part of the Playa to Paseo partnership between the City of San José Office of Cultural Affairs and the Burning Man Project. Due to popular demand, this new version of Sonic Runway is a multi-year installation.
This will be a great opportunity to meet Rob Jensen and Warren Trezevant, who will walk you through the conceptual and technical. The small gathering of performers and artists is an opportunity to think about how you can create and imagine this incredible platform.
You will be able to ask the artists some technical questions and explore the platform's abilities. It can be a curricular container for new media art, experimental music, performance, games, etc. Or it can be used as a performance platform for sound, dance, and experimental media. The platform allows audio input on each end and responds in color to the input sound.
