In Series Artistic Director
Timothy Nelson is beginning his third season as Artistic Director of DC’s IN Series and has previously served in this role for the Netherlands Opera Studio and American Opera Theater, among others. Timothy is active in North America and Europe as a director, designer, and conductor, having recently created new productions for Opera Grand Rapids, Rotterdam Opera, and IN Series. Early on in the pandemic, Tim and the IN Series announced INVISION, The Logan Opera House Without Walls, an online platform “modelled on the thrilling experience of a physical performing arts space.” INVISION will offer myriad virtual venues tailored to suit a diverse and inventive slate of programming, from live-streamed performances to radio plays and opening night parties. IN Series launched INVISION with a virtual collaboration with the Tehran Symphony; this project, which weaves together the finale of Handel’s Serse with the poetry of Rumi, has been featured on Operawire, Broadway World, and CNN.
