Torin Blankensmith

Torin Blankensmith is a freelance creative technologist and real-time graphics artist based out of NEW INC in New York City. He channels a multidisciplinary approach drawing on his background in human-centered design and computer science to build immersive installations, interactive experiences, and communities that encourage creativity, connectivity, empathy, expression, and play. Torin’s work explores emerging techniques in real-time graphics pulling inspiration from systems and patterns of emergent behavior in nature. This work has translated into creating large scale environments for medical professionals to alleviate stress/burnout, for patients in clinical studies aiding in neuroscience research on brain recovery, and for commercial spaces bringing sanctuary to the urban landscape.Throughout his career, Torin has been passionate about demystifying technology through teachable moments and developing open-source tools empowering people to make their own creative work. He currently teaches creative code at Parsons School of Design. Previous clients include Mt. Sinai Hospital, Nobel Foundation, Google Creative Lab, Lab at Rockwell Group, Vice, Adobe, and Microsoft.
