Yagmur Uyanik

YaÄŸmur Uyanık is a Turkish artist based in San Francisco with backgrounds in architecture, new media and music. Her work explores repetition, process and intangibility through creating instruments of displacement. She aims to extend the digital media to a point that it becomes a physical experience. 

Uyanık’s work strolls on the edges of unde ned gaps using network of time, memory and perception and is centered around creating a range of installations that take on the expected but what is not seen by the eye easily, what hangs between meaningful and outside-of-meaning. She is interested in the tension between real and synthesized with an aspiration to think about the dynamic perception of space.Uyanık has received her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with a minor in Music and her Master’s degree in Art & Technology from San Francisco Art Institute as a Fulbright scholar. Her work was shown internationally at institutions including Ars Electronica Linz; Sonar D+ Barcelona; Signal Light Festival Prague; Geneva International Film Festival; Art Futura Rome; Exploratorium, Swell Gallery and Diego Rivera Gallery, San Francisco and was written about in publications such as Archinet, Designcollector, Design Milk, FRAME Magazine and Earmilk
