When you buy a layer you have the opportunity to influence your favorite artists' work. Layers are endowed with special abilities decided by the artist. When you change something on a layer the Master image will reflect this regardless of who owns it! The image below runs through a mix of the various layers and states to give an overview of some of the possibilities.
The Creation explores "Blurring Borders", the theme of The Grid: Exposure, part of Ars Electronica 2020. It is a cross-continental collaboration between CODAME Artists Jordan Gray (US), Janessa Robinson (US), and OoakosiMo (PH) and veteran Async Artist Vans Design (IT). As layers are purchased and their states manipulated, lines between creator, collector, and curator will blur.
CODAME is thrilled to partner with the amazingly innovative team at Async Art in the creation of a programmable blockchain art piece. Async Art is a new art movement to create, collect, and trade programmable art. Digital paintings are split into "Layers", which you can use to affect the overall image. Art that can evolve over time, react to its owners, or follow a stock price is now all possible with programmable art.
The Creation Async-hosted Auction will be taking place on Sep 14. Bidding will close on Sep 18 between 8-10 am PST. Follow instructions on auction-the-creation.
25% of the total sales will be donated to The Grid in support of the organization’s international solidarity fundraiser in support of the local art scene in the San Francisco Bay Area.
To emphasize the power of the future Layer holders, CODAME has decided to make a T-shirt of a specified state of the artwork. After the piece is auctioned off on September 18th, we will wait a week for the Layer owners to make their desired changes to the artwork and will gift the Master owner the final T-shirt, as well as offer it as featured merchandise on our Gallery Online Store.
